TV Ad 1950's-today
Notice in this commerical, how the housewife is dressed, how even though she's home how well her face is 'painted' and what she is saying, compare this an add from today targeting women.
Now, notice how this housewife is dressed. She is in the same setting as the one before, but notice the differences.
Kind of funny how roughly fifty years difference and how much subtle changes have been done.

Wow, I can't believe we have come so far. It was once immoral for a woman to show her ankles, and now we think nothing of it to wear tiny shorts. The image of a woman has changed immensely, but I don't think it is all for the worst. Women are showing independence now and tkaing care of themselves. I wouldn't call these changes subtle because we have done away with all of the old to come into a world where everyone is allowed to do as they please.
