While diamonds may be a girl's best friend, the mirror may very well be a women's best friend. While that may be true or false, it is debatable whether or not the way a women dresses is a shadow of her overall intelligence. In the last one hundred years, women-kind has been blessed with many brilliant women as well as some very well dressed women, but has to two ever crossed? In the hot bed of Murder City(Chicago), in the midst of the 1920's, women across the town were killing their husbands or boyfriends on what appeared to be whim. One of those notorious women was, Beulah Annan. A gorgeous young women from Kentucky, who shot and killed her lover over his drunken threats to leave her. Beulah Anna, her hands and clothes spattered with blood, spun the record on the phonograph again, moved to the open window and squinted out at the afternoon sun. ( The Girl's Of Murder City) With an all male jury, beautiful Beulah was found not guilty of the crime, of course, but was it just her beauty that saved her from swinging, or was it her intelligent mind applying her know appeal towards men that saved her? In today's society, more often than not, women higher up in the education ladder are not as appealing as those slightly below them. A women who had to work, was not considered beautiful; her skin was less fair, her hands were rough and her nails were un-kept all of which were signs of beauty a hundred years ago. Women today can now have their career and beauty too, but has that come with a price? With less restrictions to the opportunities women have, it is easier to push a women into a pretty little box based on the clothes she wears. Take for example middle class young women, if this young lady wears ripped jeans and a t-shirt she would be considered less intelligent than a young woman her age wearing a two-piece business suit. Whether that assumption maybe true or not, it is safe to say women are judge first on their appearance, which may latter ensue into the women's true intelligence, but that still does not solve whether a women dress is truly the mirror image of her intelligence. It is safe to say that the clothes a woman wears is the shadow of her thought pattern of how she wishes to be seen. (i.e. if a women wears lose clothing that hides her shape, she is self-consensus and does not want anyone to see her true shape.) Based on this previous statement, women subconsciously dress to fit the needs the see in the situation they are dressing for, therefore, if a women wished to be seen as venerable, she may dress a certain way to hide her intelligence until the proper time to reveal her true beautiful mind.
