The Story behind the blog
What makes a woman who she is? Is it her clothes, her intelligence, what she has succeeded in, or what she has learned from her mistakes? In the last hundred years, women have experienced a leap in the social circuit of what is acceptable and ‘lady-like’. World War II caused an enormous shift in clothing and what was ‘socially acceptable’ back on the ‘home front’. With men fighting overseas and women being left back at home, it was the first official time women had to work in a field that a few years earlier would not have been acceptable for a young lady. With eyes gazing on the women running in political elections here recently, it is a wonder whether the way we dress is a show of the times. If a woman is running for president, is she scarifying her power of dressing to be seen as intelligent? When it comes to dressing, is it true that the clothes do make the man, or in this case Woman, or is it merely just threads woven together to cover our backs?

I really like the way you explain why you chose your topic. It has great details, and i love how you said "is it true clothes do make the man... or is it merely just threads woven together to cover our backs." Good Job!!(:
ReplyDeleteI love your blog so far. Especially this in particular. You go in dept of how women were viewed years ago by their clothing. You also ask questions that make you think about how a woman wants to be seen by how they dress. Good job Leah!
