"The 1930s were years of fierce class struggle and great advances for the working class"
The 1930's saw a suprising change in the workforce. Along with the Great Depression, wmen and women were both coming together in search of jobs and avoid losing their homes. The Housewives League(s) were formed, adding pressure to the restless women were feeling. Unhappy with this or that, women began to stand up for what they felt was unfair. In Detroit women were shutting down meat factories due to high prices, cigar factories were facing challenges from women, and in San Antonio, Mexican women stood up against long, unfair hours. Women now having the right to vote ten years earlier, felt empowered, their hunger for more equality was growing and the ways of going around situations would not suffice any longer.
